Hi Deco Everything that I have collected part from the dining set which was an investment has been from garage sales. So I am quite happy to part with everything... I think the most expensive was $10.00. My problem is that I cant focus because you are right. I just have too much going on in different styles. Going with the style of the dining table - where do you think I should head with rug choices from everything I am reading - it says I should zone out the room?? I am staying away from leather couches and heading towards a cotton fabric. I really just want the space to be comfortable. Thanks for the tip about the ideabook. I've been collecting here and then, but mainly watching how people solve their dilemmas. I look but don't comment much.

Hi all Just thought I'd give an update. Even though hubby and I discussed with each other that we will wait til we move in to get a dining table. Hubby went back to the store where we bought the sofa set to buy something, then he went ahead and bought the matching dining set because he got a good deal for it. Oh well. Your home looks lovely. Ideas that come to mind for your 'dining' room include a sewing room, craft room, reading nook or children's playroom with a day bed but any of those ideas will only work if you have use for them. I know you have said you don't want another sitting room but my instinct would be a pair of wicker chairs, a jute mat, a small side table and some indoor greenery - essentially making a summer sitting room/reading room. With regards to your coffee table, perhaps include some texture. Either a mat under the bowl or fill the bowl with brush balls or something similar. Otherwise it appears to work well with your other furnishings and style.

The dining room is only 3.3 x 3, you do not have room for a table and lounge chairs plus a walkway to outside. Again, the family room is only 3.1 metres wide. This is not enough room for a dining suite and a lounge to be a comfortable space, since again it is a thoroughfare to the terrace. Mark the size of your furniture on the floors with masking tape. Allowing for areas to pull out chairs and comfortably walk around the table, and to outside. The family room could have a long eight seater dining table up towards the kitchen, and then maybe, two single lounge chairs in the space with all the sliding doors.
