6 years agoGreat looking kitchen. I think that a light grey that is similiar to the grey vein in your benchtop could complement it quite well. I would not paint it white as your cabinetwork is white and the floor tiles will stand out even more.
The other option that you may not have considered is a very pale, warm terracotta colour that tones in with the floor tiles. At the moment it looks like a case of a shiny, new kitchen and sad, old tiles. By complementing (not matching) the wall paint with the tiles it means that the tiles won't stand out quite as much, and your beautiful new cabinetwork and benchtop will stand out more.
This isn't the colour, but it shows the principle of a wall colour making a real feature of the white cabinetwork due to the contrast with the white, and makes the dark floor less dramatic.

Comments (15)Hi Sue, I think the wall colour (white looks like an white/off white) is lovely. It’s neutral and light, and will be the best back drop for any soft furnishings. I would suggest maybe updating some of your furniture. Your sofas look in good condition, so re-upholstering to change the colour may be a expensive option. in a bid to save some money, perhaps updating your rug to a lighter/more neutral pattern/colour (look at armadillo rugs) is a better option. Also updating your dining setting (perhaps something with chair upholstery to compliment the sofa, and even a large light coloured marble top) to be more contemporary and in keeping with your lounge suite would be the way to go. My clients often find it difficult to part with certain pieces that hold sentimental value, but often a new home requires a furniture update. In summary, I’m not convinced changing wall colour will be able to link all your furniture together. Stick with one piece that works well (ie. the sofa) and work towards updating the rest. 6 years agoKim Q, it's a beautiful colour in full strength. It looks beautiful against white trim and might look too washed out as quarter strength. The kitchen image above is from a house where every room was painted in full strength, definitely not too dark (but that's subjective of course!)

Colour is returning to home decorating now to add interest to neutral spaces
