Nicolafox, no we never did figure it out, but it has lessened over time, and some areas got lighter and others darker. The very distinct dark square areas are less defined now. We've just accepted it.

What a gorgeous bathroom! Would love to see vanity too. The black feature tile en masse is simply stunning- so dramatic a feature. Yes, I would want to continue the black tile theme to have consistency in the house. I would probably have black tile on the 'bathroom' side and gloss light latte on 'laundry' side, with sand tiles on floor. May I ask what your vanity/basin will be?

You are going to run into trouble if you go with a white or off-white as they won't go with your other whites, and be difficult to keep clean. I would use the dark grey vein in your Caesarstone as a starting point to match with your new floor tiles. The same floor tiles could also be used as a laundry splashback. It's a laundry and as such, you won't spend hours in it, so it needs to be practical without breaking the bank. Ditch the idea of herringbone tiles. Whilst it's lovely it will cost a lot more - as it's very time consuming and more wastage of tiles too. White is very safe but it's boring and blah if you don't add some wow factor. Daphnemaria has got it just right with her picture. Your laundry would benefit from a dark floor and splash back as this will anchor the room. Then, to give that POP to the room, all you really need to do, is push the boat out and spend up large on some really funky, bright or unusual cupboard handles. Something that will make you smile. They could be bright yellow, red, one of each colour you like or some unusual shape.
