Need help for my newly renovated basement
Comments (21)The space looks a bit cold & clinical at the moment. Add sheer curtains to the window from ceiling to floor this wall Add some drama and also help to soften the look. I don't think the corrugated iron works use timber instead . A rug will better define the space perhaps with pops of colour like yellow , orange or red this will add some warmth. Prints on the wall , large pot plants side tables and floor lamps . In the billiard area it would look good to add a pendant lamp over the table you can buy ones specifically for billiard tables . More pops of colour also a couple of occasional chairs . You could also add more timber here to give more ambiance. Comments (14)Hi, I like the overall concept of the darkish grey, it suits the home. I am a colour consultant and have been working with the Dulux range for 17 years and you are on the right track with the Guild Grey. The Dulux Signature will give you a dark blue house. Another option if Simone Weil which is just a bit lighter than the Guild Grey, if you find that one too dark. Sample pots and A4 brush outs onto white cardboard are the best way to decide, because computer programs give an overall impression of the "look" but are not accurate with colour choices, you can't beat the human eye. All the best, it's going to look great....See MoreFirst time renovation questions
Comments (4)Hey Paul! Firstly, congrats on starting to adult. I'm yet to begin the homeowning part of that journey but nonetheless will relish in offering my thoughts on your male-accountant-esque aesthetic skills. 1) Glass panels - scrap them! $500 could be better spent elsewhere and it's common, like mentioned above, that people don't want the insides of their cupboards visible. 2) Blackbutt laminate floors and gloss white cupboards - matt benchtop colour I think should also be dependant on paint colour of the walls as well as other furniture. Not sure if you've mentioned that? Neutral is always safe though. In terms of flooring, I agree with the other commenters again in suggesting you rip up the carpet yourself and see the situation on your hands. A bit of elbow grease (and probably a few swear words) and you'll have saved some cash you can invest in the appliances. The amount you're investing in renovating the kitchen should also depending on the scope of your other renovations of the place (how much you're changing/investing in living, bathrooms etc). Side note, but an important consideration, is thinking of the kind of future tenants you would want living in the space and what they would consider important. Kitchens are often the heart of the home, so investing a little more here, especially if visible from front door, IMO isn't completely irrational. Comments (43)When we renovated our kitchen, I had the same kind of doubts. Adding a simple pendant on the right side of the island really makes a difference and gives the space more depth. I agree the window could be a bit larger. It would definitely improve the natural light. We ended up going with an all-white kitchen and paired it with light oak herringbone floors from braagfloor. It completely brightened the space while still feeling warm, not cold at all. www.braagfloors.com...See More- 8 years ago
