I think you could get the telly put over the fireplace. Might need a mantle to deflect radiant heat, not sure. But on the cables and power, I imagine they can get that sorted. Im guessing there is a wall behind you when you took the photos. I agree that a low corner modular sofa would look great. Just don't get it so long that it is up against the fireplace wall. Placed into that corner of end and piano walls . Then pop your cute chair where the sofa is now. Large ( big enough for the sofa front legs sit on it, I'm guessing 2x3m or even 3x4m) patterned rug to define the area. Can you move the piano to another room or against the computer area wall? Can you make the small windowed room the homework hub? Imagine a long bench against the window ( Ikea do a good cheap range that you make to fit your space). Ensuring the computers are in line of sight from the kitchen(?). Pull out the table to give it more space around it. Or flip it to run the other direction. Hard to tell from the pics the dimensions. Paint a lighter shade as mentioned before. A sketch of your floorplan would be really helpful :)

What have you committed to already? as to be honest I think it would be worthwhile having a rethink as you live with a kitchen for a long time. Have you thought about having the darker cupboards on the lower level and another lighter colour on top? The lights could be dust catchers which can happen with a moist kitchen environment. Are they cut glass as you could go with something the same shape in a plain finish. With the splash back you could go for a subtle silver grey metallic glass, but your bench top looks quite yellow / pink in my monitor so take a sample to check against. I like a bright splash backs but it all depends on the amount of the colour and how it works with your other colours. If you go with painted glass there is no limit on what you choose. Overall it feels as there is a beige theme and a grey theme which you need to ensure there is one element that can draw them together - this may be your cupboards but it is hard to tell on the computer screen. A brand new kitchen is a unique opportunity to have what you want and to find harmony in the choices so it is worth taking the time. All the best.

The hallway is bright and welcoming. Forget a mat as you have dogs as well as elderly family. Unless the chair is serving a purpose, I would remove it and add a full-length wall hung mirror which will reflect light and make the hall look an indeterminate length and you can used it to see your reflection before you leave the house.
