How can I make this large entrance look inviting?
Comments (16)I think the table disappears. It is sideways in the far corner as you enter and the colour blends into the background. It's a nice table but it doesn't appear to be doing anything except trying not to be noticed. Does it serve any purpose? Is it a dropzone for keys and mail for instance? If you want to keep it in the hallway I agree with the advice to move it to the centre of the wall instead of in the corner. I also like the idea of a bold wall colour or a large bold artwork. Do you need anything else in the hallway, mirror, coat hooks, an umbrella stand?...See MoreLooking for more Kitchen Space. Help Needed - Melbourne AU
Comments (26)Could you do with out a laundry sink? If you make the bathroom sink deep enough and the bench overly wide they could do double duty. So you would have sink and bench next to a cupboard that hold the stacked washer and dryer. If you have a front loaded washer you can put a bench inside the cupboard to make extra work space. If the bathroom vanity cabinetry and bench top are the same as the laundry cupboard it will add symmetry. Fill up your mop bucket in the shower (better for your back anyway) or a funky pull out tap could work. It should reduce the amount of space for your laundry/bathroom and give you more space to rearrange what you need for your pantry. I don’t like some of the styles in the photos but it gives you some ideas about sink and bench sizes. I understand though if you would prefer a seperate sink for the bathroom and laundry....See MoreHow can I make my house look more modern?
Comments (14)Thank you all for your comments, photos and links. Thank you all for your comments, photos and links. This style of house is what I like but I only have a small budget -$5000.00. I have researched roof painting and read several forums where people have painted their own roofs with good results as long as they were meticulous with the preparation. I will remove the shutters and definitely engage the services of a garden designer. I live in Perth and we haven't seen rain for awhile. Seems sensible to get rid of the lawn. And I will further research painting or re surfacing the driveway and change in the future. But, where do I start? What should I do first to implement change? Thank you for any further comments....See MoreMy Front Entrance Needs to be more inviting
Comments (9)Hi Helen, I think because your garden beds are right up to the door you feel that way, maybe pave an area either side of door so that your pots can sit evenly , add some new plants a little taller to compliment the door, if possible add a new edging and use a stone mulch for a beautiful effect, mass plant with some lush plants , a couple of cute wall hanging plants could look gorgeous...See Moreme me
