Curtains on a feature wall HELP

I have a duck egg blue feature wall in my bedroom with a small window that I want to sort of hide/blend into the background and I will be doing curtains to the floor behind my four post bed and a very large window on a one of my three Champaign coloured walls that I am happy to make into a bit of a feature if you like. Do I go with duck egg blue curtains on both windows, two different coloured curtains (1 the blue and 1 the Champaign) or do I do something completely different?

There is too much going on in that room, with the four poster bed being the feature. You don't need a feature wall when the bed is such a statement. Less is more. I would make all four walls the same neutral colour with co-ordinated curtains.

I think the room, overall, will look better with same fabric on both/all windows. It will be cohesive. I am wondering though, the style of curtain you plan to have. I say this because a four-poster beds is a statement piece and the curtain will need to be fairly simple...I'm thinking a blockout blind covered by full-height duck egg blue sheers using plenty of fabric so you get a shirred effect.

Same to other window. Your room sounds like it will be really beautiful and romantic. Would love a pic if you feel like sharing. Cheers!

Thank you. I’m planning on fairly simple curtains as my bed is gold with four teenagers in the house I have gone with a very over the top moody boudoir for me as I like to have an escape. Will take some photos for you

Silk would be interesting, not to mention elegant. As for paints, the Silver Illusion appeals, but it might throw green (not sure). I also agree the Tranquil Retreat is a good one. I'm wondering how big the feature wall is, and what is going on this wall, eg TV, fireplace, large artwork, etc.?

Ok . Painting walls/wall darker would make it more cosy, adding a large rug under the bed and pendants above the bedside tables would be nice. Then get some beautiful bed linen that complements the rug and maybe some cushions. Wall paper is also good idea if you fancy something flamboyant.

I'd like to see duck egg blue block out curtains with a white/light champagne privacy sheer on both. I would also like to see the overall effect with the curtains on the bed removed for a more airy feel and allow the chandelier to be fully appreciated.

Oh wow, Kelly, good for you!! Love the detail and colour of ceiling rose, and the chandelier. Scottevie makes a very good point about the chandelier needing to not be detracted from, but hard to tell from the angle of the photo whether that is the case or not.

IF you were to go with blue sheers, I suggest you change the lamp shades for larger ones in linen/white/champagne colour, as there would then be a bit too much of the same blue and I think there needs to be more contrast.

Thanks guys I actually have new lamps at planning on loosing the bed curtains when I get real curtains as I have had the bed refinished in an antique gold. What you are seeing are photos in different stages

I would do a Roman blind on the small window behind the bed and matching drapes on the other. I like the blue you have but agree there is a bit much going on with the bed too. Perhaps you could show us another photo when the light fitting is up and the bed curtains taken down.

Thanks doc I’m actually hoping to do something like this behind the bed to hide the hideous air conditioner. I live in the tropics so the air conditioner is a must but this way I can open the curtains to reveal a black out blind over the window and the air con to cool the room down. The fan will be removed

Kelly, if you find you still want air circulation from a fan, you could consider an one that mounts to a wall. We considered this when we were looking at options.

We have the air con going anyway so it won’t be needed
