Coming back to the question, yes, you can add a wallpaper behind the television, go for a textured wallpaper as it will create a compliment to your television. As you have decorated with wooden elements, you can go with a bookshelf on the wall. And, there is one more thing which will be a simple addition but will look perfect and that is an antique wall clock. An antique wall clock will make your wall look great without any fuss.

I actually start to feel ill when I go to the shops and feel that sort of frantic air of desperation. I see people walking with trolleys full of toys etc - how much 'stuff' do we need? Or even want? Over the last few years my family and my husbands family have changed tack and put money together towards purchasing some gifts from compassion or tear fund instead. Much less stress and I feel better knowing someone is getting a sewing machine for a business or a goat or a well, rather than more 'stuff' that has to be put somewhere. If this was my place, I'd definitely install a skylight (even just a DIY solatube which someone suggested), then depending on budget I'd make these changes:- - replace floors with light colour timber floorboards since they never date - replace furniture with light colour furniture in both lounge and kitchen - paint kitchen and hutch white - add some plants in white pots - go for large light coloured wall art - replace curtains with roller blinds to maximise light I love the bluestone - it will look amazing when you've added some lighter colours to the room!

From someone who has lived in fourteen houses in twenty three years, I would say give yourself a minimum of six to twelve months to turn your house into something that feels like home. Live in it, sleep, work, and play in it; little by little, you'll be inspired to add details that will make it yours. Unless you can afford to hire a professional designer, and know you're on target with your designs, don't rush to buy new furniture or artwork, or really anything home decor wise until you've had time to get a "feel" for your new house. An exception might be plants. I love how a well placed house plant adds warmth. And of course, if the walls are painted in something you know you can't live with, please do paint before you move in! Neutral shades are always best. That vibrant green you loved in your previous bedroom may feel tacky and garish in your new one.
