Pimp our floor plans

We are renovating a beautiful old QLDer here in Toowoomba. Our original prelim floorpan of a double-storey extension has come back with a very $$$$ build cost.
We now have the 'fun' of revising our plans to a single story to make our dream come true - and under budget!
We have attached our current prelim floor plan that we adore (that excludes the the master retreat upstairs).
We now need to tweak the below floorpan to include a master bedroom, Ensuite off the master and an extra office/single bedroom.
We are thinking:
Extended the back of the house by 2.2 metres (i.e. off the kitchen and family area to the left)
Trim 1 metre off lounge room and use the extended 2.2 metres (from the extension of the back of the house) to create an office room between the front lounge and bedroom 3
Bathroom and staircase to be changed into one single master bedroom (and use the previous ensuite for the master bedroom instead of the laundry. *need to incorporate walk in robe/wardrobe somehow?
Bathroom size and layout to remain the same (Bathroom to be moved left into the meal space)
Meal space, family and kitchen to remain the same, but all moved left as part of the 2.2metre addition
Are there any hidden spaces we can use for extra storage?
Key specs to consider
North is located to the left (off) of the kitchen/family area
Climate - Toowoomba (Hot in summer and cool in winter)
Plan is for a modern victorian style family friendly home
Thanks so much and we love reading all of your thoughts and ideas :)
