Comments (13)Hi Megan, I think all the comments have been very constructive and positive. I looked at your photos very carefully and my eye was being confused by the white walls and the beige/caramel carpet. I think your modular lounge is beautiful and your choice of furniture is good. The coffee table could be exchanged perhaps for a more organic shape, and a glass top table opens up a space also. Another choice of coffee table would be using the lounge ottoman with a large tray to hold cups and magazines. Have you considered moving the lounge off the wall if there is the space? I definitely would love to see a large rug and a large artwork for the wall, however there seems to be a lot of light hitting that wall and I wondered about fading (of the lounge, over time and of the artwork) so what are your window coverings? Before you commit to colors etc., find some pieces of fabric (could even be tablecloths, sheets or clothes) in different colors, throw on the lounge (one color at a time) and take a photo - you will soon be able to tell which colors work best for you. Same goes for the floor - simple but effective when rugs and cushions are not often cheap. You will have so much fun deciding and whatever you decide will be just fine because you have to love the home you are in! Good luck with everything Di....See MoreFurniture placement for small, narrow living room.
Comments (16)I love your fireplace. I would not alter it. The door and the floorboards draw your eye straight to the fireplace. I wouod definitely alter the light fittings. I would have the tv on the dining room wall to the right of the arches. I wouod have one lounge on the window wall opposite the tv and a chair in the corner if there is enough room. I would have an eyecatching wing back chair to the left of the fireplace opposite the dining room and white lacy soft curtains softening the window wall. To the left of the fireplace near the dining room arch you could add some interesting decorating piece. I would concentrate on making the fireplace wall the focal point of the room and the tv corner a secondary focal point that is soft and relaxing. You could trow down a couple of beautiful, thick, soft floor mats to soften the brick and provide a texture contrast. Overall, I love the room, it has character and strength, its not boring and mundane. Good luck! I hope you find something that suits both you and hubby...See MoreHELP! Any ideas how to fix the living room end of our dining room?
Comments (25)First ,is removing excess furniture an option? Second, why bar fridge in the dining area, that really ruins the look. Seems that you can not move dining table closer to the kitchen because you have light pendant above the table, so can you move piano where your black couch is and couch on the other side of the room instead of creamy colour sofa . I notice the luck of coffee tables and side tables, that's probably why you like to sit around dining table, it is not visitors friendly and doesn't encourage conversation or interaction. I will come back to it have to study photos more. Are the arm chain the other room similar colour to the couch in the dining area?...See MoreHelp configure furniture in our narrow living room!
Comments (5)By changing the entryway as you have, you have created a more expansive living area Congratulations Now don't box yourselves in again by only using the lefthand area of the new space! Have a round dining table with 4 chairs (and a couple of folding spares if you have dinner parties) Add a console or buffet cabinet on the wall opposite the kitchen entry Use a large mirror above that to bounce light from the balcony, as well as decorate the wall Wall C is a good place to wall-hang the TV, but put it closer to the entryway corner, so you can watch it from the dining table as well Enclose the TV in a built-in shelving system for added storage (can never have too much storage!) Place a modular unit at point A and B with a lovely big rug That will not feel too 'boxed in' Anchor that with 2 easy chairs that can move from point D to wherever you need them for any given occassion A large print on wall B will be a focal point for people entering the room Add wall decoration and living greenery Lovely! Let us know what you decide to do...See MoreKel
