Do your pets sleep indoors or outside?
Comments (30)Cats indoors with the back verandah built in for them (snake mesh). I believe cats should be contained for their safety and that of wildlife. I am on acreage with nearest road/neighbour 1 km away - so for my cats it is really about the safety of wildlife. 2 small indoor dogs - mini dachshund and chihuahua. Indoors for their safety and they are a part of the family. 1 outdoor dog protecting livestock. I have always had dogs inside. I used to have larger dogs and they would be wherever I was, and outdoors when I wasn't home. I have had a lot of dogs... chosen and rescues/highway pickups. I have always heard the argument that it is not hygienic having them indoors.... and now I have had kids I can confidently say kids are far worse than dogs. My house used to always be clean and clutter free. Now I am constantly cleaning and tidying and telling kids to pick up stuff - and I might get 5 minutes a day where it looks like what it always looked like when I just had dogs!...See MoreBrick house has no style!
Comments (28)Hi Bron. I'm totally with those who have suggested a. Colorbond Monument and b. No rendering. As a professional renovator, I see clients who had not taken into account the maintenance - cleaning, patching the cracks when the house moved and they all do, eventually) and would not render again. Bagging is really old-fashioned. The bricks are a great colour to work with. The suggestions of plants , a path leading (directing visitors) to your door, and I'll add using a feature colour on the door (an unobtrusive screen door - or even removing it) would make a big difference. It would be great to see a pic of the house from the street to see if there's anything else to suggest. Happy reno!!...See MoreExterior design for 2000 brick house
Comments (10)Great street appeal! I like the grey in the last inspo photos. It seems to give the house some grounding to the setting. I would not remove the trees, rather I think they would look good pleached. Checkout landscaper Paul Bangay’s work, specifically “Paul Bangay’s Garden Design Handbook”. Borrow it from the library and pour over that for ideas. The backyard needs some serious work as the soil looks depleted and the plants look starved. I would probably live in the house for awhile before committing to a plan for the back. I would also recommend painting the back walls charcoal or dark grey to recede but if they face west you’ll make it really hot. Soo, live with it for awhile and the solutions will become much clearer....See MoreLayout dilemma 70s brick house
Comments (41)Hi Do you need four bedrooms? If not, turn main bedroom into a kids room. Turn the lounge into main bedroom with en-suite, knock down the wall between the kitchen and the bedroom at the back of the house and then create one big open plan kitchen living dining across the back of the house. I envisage you would need to knock out the back wall of the house and add some square footage to get the space you would desire. You could also build a patio across the back with stacking sliding doors to create a beautiful indoor/outdoor living space that overlooks the pool. Good luck!!...See MoreWild Bear & Co Hervey Bay
