Need help with living area
Comments (9)Introduce natures colour other than just green. Mid toned timbers like oaks, or ash, and rattan, bamboos texture. A sisal large area rug with a ribbon edge detail, rattan furniture with lush upholstery, perhaps canvas upholstery with large green leaves like those of a monsteria leaf or frangipanis, scatter cushions of emerald green velvet and a mustard cord trim, timber lamp bases and some beaten copper! Maybe in lighting, frames, accessories or a drum coffee table. This adds luxury and light, and is rit on trend. The key pieces to consider would create a comfort zone within the living spae, include an oversized sofa for lounging, 2 rattan armchairs with feature upholstered cushions, scatter cushions tying hothead in to each other. Occasional side table, not matching pairs, perhaps, a bookcase if the room fits it, mirror the back and use it to display and store, a decorators dream. Place everything within your rugs outer edge, and dress with at least one lamp, framed prints, and some grouped interest items on your coffee table, maybe a tray loaded with a small glass bottle with a plant stem, a stack of face books or magazines, the cliche of and/or two. Position the furniture away from the walls, regardless of it being small, inapt in spite of it! Bringing things into he comfort zone creates a room within a room, and makes it feel luxe. Remember to face the armchairs to the outside either the doors or windows facing that pool, include a mirror. Soften the room with fabric, maybe a silk or faux silk curtain from a high rod, right across the entire window wall, to completely close the outside from the in at night. All a little the hotels would do....See MoreDo I need a brighter print for my dining area?
Comments (19)I love what you've done so far - I would, however, change the light frame to a black one and add matting that is the same colour as the red in your hallway print that will tie your hall way and dining area together in a subtle way as well as making the print bigger - you could take the matt out by upto 15cm (more if you're brave) and the frame width of between 2cm up to 10 (again depending on how brave you are). As it's a rather large wall you can go bigger with the matt and frame as your wall can take it and you've been restrained with the rest of your colour and material pallet. Your plants are lovely but they're lost down on the floor in the corner - if you can boost them up (I've found pots turned upside down work and have also been known to use old pottery sewer pipes painted - they're totally clean of course!) so that they're a feature rather than an afterthought....See MoreDecor ideas for this cabinet nook
Comments (19)Agree with some of the ideas already mentioned of artwork (maybe 3 small framed prints or photos hung vertically given the light you intend to install?) to fill the wall space, tiered stand with fruit, cook books on one shelf and the other can be used for storing stationery, mail etc using a stacked set of drawers (some nice ones available at the stationery/office suppliers). You can hang removable hooks inside the door for keys. I'm not a fan of having "stuff" (papers, keys) on bench tops as it quickly turns into a dumping area and in a thoroughfare, things end up on the floor as people rush past. Best of luck - your kitchen is gorgeous by the way!!...See MoreEntryway suggestions please
Comments (61)I like the photo of the chair at entrance with green wall behind and round timber mirror above, all you need now is a large simple pot plant, round perhaps in white, with something like a rubber plant or large leafed variety, or Mother-in-laws tongue perhaps then add a white marble top small table on the other side of the chair, closest to the door with legs to match or similar to the chair. Remove the timber hall table all together and the letters and dragon fly on the opposite wall. That should do it. Pot plant examples photos to follow...See MoreDebbie JAMES
