Thanks everyone for your comments, they are great! Of course everyone will have different tastes and function that appeal to them, otherwise a designer would have a very boring job!! Its always been on my mind though. I made acrylic also as they were much cheaper than glass, but come with their own issues as they warp, scratch and deteriorate, especially if you use cleaning materials. As for prints, I did this and it is a very fine line. I have seen the most hideous designs, patterns and prints it breaks my heart. Prints can lift off the glass with the glue so be very careful with this process and get a 10 year warranty!! A waterfall image in the shower for example, looks great for the first day and to create impact, but after a month ? Selling a house with one of these gets very interesting as many try to calculate the cost to replace. Again, some will love it and go for it! Just think hard about the impact it has on the house. Also glass splashbacks have some issues with shattering, especially with companies offering inferior glass based on price. So check how your glass is made!! Thanks again and enjoy.

Looks like a difficult one, we have this issue sometimes with a tiling equivalent. If the works done before hand are not straight, flat etc, it can be very difficult and even damaging to try and install something flat over the top (benchtop, tiles etc). We see dodgy plastering jobs that get tiled onto, it is virtually impossible to do a good job if the base work is off. Smaller tiles will show obviously and larger ones will have a great risk of breaking with these small voids under. Therefor the tradie installing the 'aesthetic' aspect cops the brunt of mistakes made by the trades before hand. It can thus be difficult to blame them for this, as it doesn't necessarily indicate their poor workmanship. However, if you are paying a professional to do what it takes to complete the job in a high quality manner, then there is always a way to fix this ($$$). If it was going to be a foreseeable problem, and cost you more money, he could have asked you if you would like him to make more expensive changes to achieve the perfect finish, or continue as is at the risk of it being sub-par finish. That should have been your choice to make on consolidation. So it is a tricky one for sure! Are the cabinets below new or is it just a new benchtop?

Exactly the same tones as mine except i lifted it with a stainless steel col glass splashback and s/steel handles. I can change my accessories to suit the season even . clean and lovely as dark col bench tops look cluttered to me.Infact last week we even replaced the two downlights with 2 smoked glass pendents over the sink ( like yours) and they look great. Glad you are happier with your chosen result.
