Need advice! Small octagonal living room
Comments (9)That's a beautiful sunny room. You could put in a chase lounge where you have the lounge currently. This can accommodate quite a number of people. Add a couple of swivel chairs near the glassed area so they can move around to be included in the living room and also capture the garden view. (See photo). Putting in a second, heavy set lounge against the glass will make your living room look smaller and cluttered. The chairs allow light to filter through. Adding a rug will warm the room and tie all the pieces of furniture together. If you go fairly light, it will make the room look bigger (try a little pattern so you dont see too much dirt). You could wall mount the television and this will also make the room look larger. Sorry, that's my two bobs worth. Hope it helps!...See MoreNeed advice for furniture layout for living room
Comments (3)There are existing recessed motorised roller blinds (pale grey). The room is used as a kid's play space by day and an adult living room by night. Toys are stored in bedrooms at the end of the day and the dolls house is not a permanent fixture!...See MoreWhat do we do with our nightmare living room?
Comments (69)We had a pole house with timber floors around the pole. The builder did a fantastic job and recessed the floor timbers slightly into the pole, so there was never gap. Furnishing around the poles can be interesting - indoor plants are great - but realistically, your focus will be on the outside views during the day, and it will only be nights that you will think about the poles/inside :) I would probably put a couch on the view side of the pole facing the views, with plants this side - and no-one will really notice the carpet....See MoreLiving room fireplace advice needed
Comments (28)Hi Katle, I would keep the fireplace as it is, exposed brick, if ties in with the rest of the room styling and the overall style you like and are after. I would than work with the idea f keeping it as a center piece, but utilising the firebox as a niche for a plant or sculpture. In addition, I would have a narrow piece of joinery custom design to work with the proportions of the fireplace, so on its entirety is like a new piece of furniture. The fireplace is still there but has a new function. Or could simple add a narrow shelf and painting over. Monia...See MoreDr Retro House Calls
