Best music to play while housekeeping?
Comments (58)Funny, we were just talking about the Moody Blues at the office today. Came in to the conference room at the tail end of a conversation, and started singing "Tuesday.....afternoon" in response to some comment. Turns out one of the professors is a major fan of the Moody Blues and is in awe of Justin Hayward - thanks for the clip. :)...See MoreSmall kids play room. Corner lounge or 2 x 2seaters
Comments (7)I personally think that if you go with a corner lounge in this area it will take up a lot of space the rooms that Luke has shown...sorry Luke cut they are way bigger that 2.9 x 3 meters. but if you could get a small modular as Luke says you can separate the pieces that could work. You don't say how old the kids are.... If you have young kids you could get away with things like bean bag chairs and individual seating. I would put shelving and around the TV which I would install in the middle of the blue wall which can be open backed so you can still see the blue wall...and for small kids...use the cane basket and for the big kids...leave it open for their cds and consoles and things. Just think about installing a couple of power points into this unit...Kids always need them. Hope this helps...Robyn...See MoreLayout suggestions - privacy in bathroom for 4 growing kids
Comments (18)Hi Kate, with respect, I'm not sure I agree but all families are different I guess. I don't think you need locks, a closed door and a knock are fine in our house. I am assuming there will be another door to the kitchen aswell. Having the toilet at the furthest point means the back door can be opened to release any "odours" quickly if necessary so personally I prefer that location. That passage is the main circulation way so Having an "empty wall" keeps the passage clear. I did put a double heated towel rail just outside the shower and assumed the hand towel rail would be part of the floating vanity with a shelf underneath for extra towels. As they are teenagers I think they"ll be fine to reach inside the recessed cabinets. The sinks need to be quite narrow due to the 400mm wall depth in this corner, by recessing the cabinets it gives you more "headroom" when you bend to the basin to shave/brush teeth/wash face etc. Ditto, because of the narrow depth, getting a closer look is no problem and teenagers still have great eyesight anyway (unlike us parents!) I am an interior designer and property stylist and played with a few different layouts but I think that this one (a combination of busybeelissa, LouieT and my ideas) is a good solution given the space limitations and the fact that it's trying to work for 4 teenagers....See MoreSeparate kids' bedrooms or shared – what do you think?
Comments (18)I had 3 female joeys and two bedrooms which led to constant 2 -v- 1 situations so nights were generally a game of musical beds. There was always one child who needed time out or was given time out. When we added the extra bedroom, the serenity was bliss. They could still share when they wanted but it was all up to them, it was not forced on them so relationships definitely improved after that. I think the age of the children and the age difference is a very important aspect. Younger children are more than happy to share for the security and comfort when the lights go out. Older children need their space and privacy especially for study. Children after puberty can get extremely sensitive about their bodies and need privacy more than ever in this adjustment period. You cannot expect to put say an 8 year old with a 3 year old - by 8 kids are usually developing attachments to "special" keepsakes, something 3 year olds don't understand and this can cause a lot of resentment when things get broken or trashed. Pre children I always felt them sharing bedrooms would lead to wonderful relationships, the children would learn to share, care and appreciate each other. Now I'm older and wiser, separate bedrooms is sanity for everyone....See Moresiriuskey
