creating a workable kitchen/dining/living space
Comments (4)You really need some expert design help here - particularly in relation to your load bearing walls and how to overcome this restriction. As you say, no sooner do you solve one problem but you run up against another. Talk to a qualified builder/renovator who can give you expert advice on how to make the most of your space. They are up to date on not only the latest products, but also the latest design ideas, and they know what can be moved, where, how and why. This doesn't sound like it's a simple fix and the last thing you need is a DIY disaster....See MoreHow to furnish a small oblong kitchen/dining/living space
Comments (1)I would pop a buffet along the window by the front door & then a rectangle dining table in front of that. There are a few layouts you could do tv/ lounge wise but in the interest of entertaining & also watching tv whilst preparing meals.... I would put the tv on the wall opposite the built in cupboards - not right where the aerial point is though, closer along the wall towards the bedroom door. Then I'd have an L shape configuration of lounges (either a corner lounge or two lounges) with the back of one along the side wall (the wall you look at as you come in the front door), & the other with its back to the built in cupboards (obviously with enough room to open the doors behind it still. Then define the area with a rug etc...See MoreIdeas for family living space please

I’m nearly 60 and have watch people embrace them with great enthusiasm, only to pull them all up a few years later, claiming they have no idea why they ever thought to use them. This is usually as people decide to wall to wall carpet everything and so the fashions change again. Tiles of any style are the most durable and easiest to clean. They add colour and texture. I also loved your very comfortably cushioned couch. I thought the blue complemented the the tiles well. I found a picture that proves this, that I’ll include. I also have a design for your living area that you may not have thought of, that would allow for a larger group to gather and watch sport, concerts, or non gender biased movies together. I based my measurements on approximates, by using your tiles as a rough guide....See MoreSmall living/meals - how to place furniture?
Comments (6)what about a built in banquette that can double as extra storage for party platters and punchbowls? if you wrap it in an L shape into the corner of the meals area ( don't swap the areas in my opinion, you'll need the living space). then use a round table. it will look smaller and be more flexible as you can fit more people. that area is small but it can be more of a booth kinda dining nook....See MoreHello
