Although, I love soft, pale, barely there yellow, the canary (egg yolk as I call it) yellow is just too garish. I do like the mint green and I'm finding lots of sites that are showing myriad options in décor for it now. I imagine it's one of those "get it while it's hot" colors but it's a beautiful one to me. I've used the hot pink in much smaller doses for my daughter's room when she was little but I doubt I would use it in large quantities. I also deal with blue best in small doses.

If you can't find a more cost effective benchtop than Quantum Quartz look at the detailing of the edges of your benchtop, as the cost of the labour content can add up pretty quickly. For instance a benchtop that looks thicker than the standard slab may have a mitred edge piece, or a second layer around the perimeter. An undermount sink is more expensive than a drop-in sink, as the undermount needs the edge of the cut-out hole finished and polished. These nice architectural details add cost, so ask your Quantum Quartz fabricator/supplier if there is a cheaper way to get the Ultra White benchtop you want by simplifying the details and reducing the labour. Also, don't underestimate the good advice that you professionals give to people's posts on this site. I know that there have been a few professionals on here that I would not otherwise have known about or considered for future renos, if I hadn't seen the consistently good advice that they give on Houzz.....there are several but Dr Retro always comes to mind. (unfortunately i have bought a house now that is more log cabin look now and I am trying to change it to a industrial-modern farmhouse-modern ranchstyle-more contemporary style...(just not colonial country, ...just simplicity...which is what appeals to me in the modern midcentury look....)..sometimes the house dictates the style.....I digress as usual...

Hi I would normally use a Matt paint for walls and gloss on skirting,doorframe and any other mouldings, my dilemma is that I’m going to put mouldings on a wall to give a faux wainscotting effect. The top part will be 1 colour in a Matt finish as no mouldings there, the bottom however has the mouldings. Should I paint these gloss or Matt finish the same colour as the lower part of wall. If I use Matt would it look weird when I use gloss for door frames and skirting in the rest of the house.
