What kind of chairs for this dining table?

My SO and I just found a really cool dining table (for under $100!) for our dining room, but it's very unique and I'm struggling to decide what type of chairs would go with it. It seats up to 8, but most of the time we'll use without the leaves to seat 2-4. Any suggestions? Our style in the rest of the apartment is pretty eclectic but tends towards bohemian and farmhouse. Thanks for your help!

For such a quirky and interesting table in a bohemian and eclectic interior I would consider a set of eight Philippe Starck Ghost Chairs. The classic lines would complement the design of your table, but the clear polycarbonate would not conceal that wonderful pedestal. In addition they are stackable, so you could stack four in a corner, and have four chairs out for everyday use.

There are reproductions available, however the polycarbonate is not the same quality as the original Kartell brand, and seems to be more brittle and prone to snapping.

The clear ones are classic and are readily available, but I think one of the transparent, smoked versions (perhaps with the gold tint) would work even better.

Do you love the baroque style of the gilt and shaped wood? Or do you need to blend it into a more sedate house? I guess I’m asking what does the rest of your house look like? If it’s going into a formal area I’d consider upholstered chairs in a cream that matches the table legs. If it’s going into a more casual space I’d consider Thonet bentwood chairs in a colour that matches the top. Or you could consider any wood chair and chalk paint it to match the table legs. Good on you for picking up something unique.

new house with a blank canvas of primarily white walls, black frame doors/windows & blonde timber (oak) floors so would like to stick to this palette for the big items (though will introduce pops of colour with smaller decor items)... going for a scandi inspired contemporary look... and kitchen next to open plan dining is black, white & grey, haven't bought stools yet but will probably get timber ones

Did you want to stick to white? These options also come in neutral. What style are you intending to achieve? These are bentwood, crossback, wishbone and malawi respectively if you need to search for suppliers. Depending on the room, I like the look of Malawi at the ends of the table with the replica wishbone on the sides.

I love ghost chairs as Dr Retro suggested, love your table , you could really have fun choosing a chair to fit your eclectic boho look, throw a fur over one of the chairs for a great look also

Your lovely table is very French Farm House, you could use any chairs, Ghost, metal or wood in black would look great cheers

What I can suggest is that any old miss matched sturdy cheap chairs painted black would work to go with your $100 table cheers
