Living room furniture arrangement - what to do?
Comments (7)As a guide - the bigger the room - the bigger the furniture needs to be ! I have, for example , a pair of 8' ( four seater ) sofas in my lounge and the day I ordered them, three times they asked/checked I really had room for two of them, as they were the biggest sofas in the shop !! My lounge is about 6mx5m with 3m high vaulted ceiling - and the sofas actually look the right size, anything 'standard' would look too small in there !!!...See Moreany suggestions for living room
Comments (6)Hi Ruby, you have a lovely sophisticated blank canvas to build on. As others have suggested, some texture and warmth through rugs would work well. And you may like our unique perspex / plexiglas artworks - a contemporary, luxe medium that would certainly work very well in your room and add to the wow factor. Our collections span different styles, and each piece is made bespoke in your preferred colours and dimensions: Browse www.signarture.com and get in touch if you see something that you love!...See MoreLiving Room Decor Suggestions - Can You Help?
Comments (6)Add some colour to the room, you could use floor boards to warm up the space, with a dog, the carpet will soak in the dog smell maybe. Get a new lounge set, getting a modern couch will definitely change up the space. Leather to wipe off all the dog hair. Have curtains as those blinds are hard and a chore to clean. Just change the hardware to black railing. Instead of hanging the curtain directly on the rod use peg rings. These are cheap. Two tone the wall, Put Moulding down the bottom and make that white and add a colour or wallpaper above the wall moulding. Like a geometric pattern. Change the light fittings Put in some chairs singular, that doesn't come from the couch family tree but still has the lines and weight of the couch. Add a rug, you can get ones where you can just hose them off to clean in case dog does a mess inside the house on the rug. Add plants Add throw Coffee table Oval maybe. Or two in one Coffee table and footstool....See MoreHelp me with living room furniture layout
Comments (9)Thankyou everyone for your suggestions and recommendations.. really helps having someone(s) to bounce this off - other than my husband who couldn't care less. The timber floorboards and fresh paint/curtains we have going in will (hopefully) make the room feel more modern and 'like us' but I need to get hunting for a rug/rugs to pull the spaces together with some of the recommendations you've made. One thing I still find weird, is the chairs facing away from the fireplace. Am I over thinking it? I guess it's also weird if they face away from the TV. The one's pictured are definitely not my style so will find something new that looks a little more welcoming. @oklouise - hadn't considered flipping it over - i guess we'll have to have a play when we get in to see what reduces glare and how long our current couch goes down the wall. I'd prefer not to have a couch or tv cabinet across the window but will do it if it makes the most sense :-) @HU-640108217 The pendant lighting is definitely going, and the mirror etc aren't ours (they were staging furniture) so will replace them with things that are more our style. We have a lot of natural timber and white, as well as some colourful framed prints that will help give it some more life. @Julie Herbert really love those pieces you've picked out (more my style). I'm going to properly measure the room up when we settle on Friday, as I like the idea of a couch with a chaise... but will just have to see if I can do that without obstructing the walking space. @Davincicalbourne your round rug idea would help too with the second space. @christine46639 - I had considered the TV there, but it's too large so I think it'll stay where it is. We actually already have a smaller, mid-century tv cabinet that will hopefully be a better fit. The alternative tall plant between the fireplace and the window will be a Christmas tree at first - but really like this idea so will find a replacement after the holidays....See Moredreamer
