Hard to visualise without photos. But blackout blinds on the windows with a sheer right across the wall covering both windows looks good. I love shutters also. But agree they are costly but you can get cheaper options now. Even Spotlight does them. A substitute for shutters is a wooden Venetian. Not totally blackout and do collect dust, but they look good. I'm also doing a triple sliding door, I'm doing s-fold sheers in a textured linen, with a lining behind on a separate track. Daytime can just have the sheers but night can pull the lining. It's drawing one way the same way the door opens up

Thank you all, the double glazed windows/doors have now gone in. You've given me a lot to think about. The windows & now stacker door in front of the deck have a vergola type roof cover, however the other 3 mt window/door, not shown, does get full sun so an outside awning come summer time might be on the cards also. We do have fairly good shrubbery giving us privacy during the day except for one area which is an issue at night, and we do have outdoor roller blinds surrounding 2 sides of the deck. I think I have decided that block out roller blinds might possibly be the only practical solution as any window treatment must allow for the windows to be clear of furnishings during daytime use, especially in winter for the sun to heat up the living spaces, as well as being more open visually. Rollers will tuck away near the transom at the top of each window, only 1 blind to cover each window area, but 2 on the 3 mt window. I'm not bothering about covering the glass apex area, its now double glazed and with the vergola panels open during the day allows loads of sun to stream into the house, great for winter. Roman blinds are too deep and Panel verticals are too wide, no area to tuck away at the side of the windows so will encroach on the glassed area of each window. As much as I really loathe vertical blinds they do serve a really practical purpose, but now that I've turned the left hand window into a door, it means any verticals would have to be pulled into the centre of the frame.... hmm some serious decision making still to do.

Thanks for this suggestion. I need to be as snug as possible in the cold winter months here in Beechworth, ( the rest of the year is glorious), and I'm looking for the most effective insulation for the windows. I believed cellular blockouts would achieve this, but then thought Double glazing + blockout might be "over the top". I can't see draped curtains being so effective; perhaps I might settle for the blinds, and add some curtains for decorative effect. I can pay $3000.00 if they will achieve the insulation I need.
