Hi there, I’d appreciate any ideas for how we can update and extend our ‘weatherboard’ (hardiplank cladding) house. We are keen to paint to a more neutral colour scheme (thinking grey and white), including re-roofing with colourbond. I’m struggling to visualize how we can integrate an extension on the back which doesn’t necessarily use the same cladding for the exterior, but compliments or tastefully contrasts it at the same time. We like the idea of a modern extension that takes advantage of the north facing aspect and takes in views of our back yard. Most of the living area would be in the new extension (e.g. kitchen, dining, lounge area etc) whilst bedrooms and bathrooms would be situated in the existing house. Does anyone have any good examples of similar weatherboard style houses with a modern extension on the back? Suggestions of materials for external walls etc would be a great help.
