Double garage size dilemma

We’re about to start building a new house and have ran into an issue with the garage.

The internal width was meant to be 6430mm wide. We wanted a nice wide garage so it’s a comfortable to get in and out, and move bins and bikes through etc.

Unfortunately, we’ve had to reduce the width by 250mm - down to 6180mm.

I know this is wider than a standard garage but I don’t know if its comfortable enough.

We have one wide car (SUV) and one medium sized car - but that will change over the years.

We’re not going to use the side walls of the garage for storage.

Our options are to leave the width at 6180mm or increase the width of the garage by taking some width out from the house.

There’s no room to shift the house over, so we would need to reduce the width of the house which I don’t mind because it’s a very large house - but this means further delays having to redo plans, engineering, energy report etc. I’m not keen on any more delays.

So my question is, is 6180mm a good width for a double garage or should we go wider?

How wide is your garage and how do you find it?
