I suggest handing a number of large art pieces, minimum 3. There are a number of places that you can source art from and going by the wall dimensions go with a minimum of 1000 mm x 1000 mm each. Try Temple and Webster as they have a huge selection of Wall Art to choose from.

Would you friend be open to cladding the wall with timber? I suggest horizontal as this will take away from the height of the wall. Unless you want to emphasis the height of the wall, then go vertically.

As to wall paper, I do love grass cloth but this comes at a cost, you can get some printed grass cloth wallpaper which looks very effective. This wall paper comes in many colours and I'm sure your friend would be able to select a suitable colour.

Your friends large print looks very lonely so two quick inexpensive ideas, paint wall with a concrete finish to match the floor and hang art 2 -3 , lovely kids drawings transferred to large canvas would work in this family home, just paint it and make sure the down lights are focused on the wall art work cheers

I think that the space feel very internal. I would be not be making a feature of the wall but looking at ways to making the space feel larger and lighter. I would consider a large Velux skylight on the roof, but have it centered on the wall, then hang a very large, simply framed mirror on the wall, directly beneath the skylight.

This will bounce light around, and give you a glimpse of the sky and clouds from the right angle, which is much more interesting then any wall feature could be. Simple, understated, yet dramatic, without dominating the space.

it needs more dimension - a couple of thoughts:

1. possibly even a really well designed piece of joinery display/shelving with lighting in it - but it needs to balance within the space - ie you can't just go to IKEA or Freedom and get an off the shelf unit to fix the problem

2. possibly the room configuration is not the best - it could be flicked around so that the TV is centralised/focused onto that wall so that it's not so much about walking past the back of a lounge next to a massive bland wall.....

As usual, it's all in the degree of resolution of the overall design and spatial planning

Paul that was my first thought that the lounge should be repositioned but couldn't see what was on the opposite side of the room, there appears to be an opening. that is the dominate wall in the whole open space with a family of small children it needs to be a hard wearing, or shallow built in book case possibly including the TV

What a great opportunity for your friend to create something special.

An idea could be to draw inspiration from our PR Manager's house (as seen in this [Houzz Tour[(https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/my-houzz-a-creative-collectors-home-bursting-with-personality-stsetivw-vs~109117683)) and create a gallery wall! Freddy's is portrait themed (and has grown considerably in the last couple of months) but you can choose any theme you wish - or even no theme at all!

We'd suggest starting off with an artwork they truly love, such as the one already hanging. Then, you can pick an element of the piece to build the rest of the collection around - such as a colour or subject.

I too would be inclined to built bookshelves on that wall with TV incorporated into design...but, this also begs the question WHAT room is on the other side of the wall? If it’s a study or bedroom then perhaps wall could be acoustically treated to help muffle noise before any other treatment. With concrete floor, sound is already a factor.
