I too have always enjoyed the convenience of my two ovens which can be used independently of each other, which is why I am seriously considering the 1.5 double oven option. I have also researched the idea of two compact ovens which include microwave and steam options, (Bosch, Miele, Smeg AEG etc) and was all excited about that idea, but to install two of these is far too expensive. ($5000+ minimum) The freestanding convection microwave options all stipulate minimum 10-20cm airflow at the top of the unit, and the ones that do come with trim kits still all end up being too large for the space...frustratingly, often by only 2 or 3 cm! And yes, I've also lusted after an induction cooktop, but the expense of chasing wiring down a solid brick wall and disrupting backsplash tiling has put the kybosh on that idea. Anyhow, I have slept on this (again!) and have come to the conclusion that a 1.5 oven without an integrated microwave is the only way available at a reasonable cost.... A small microwave inside a cupboard might just work.... It's both interesting and noteworthy that convection/microwave +/- steam, with regular multifunction oven combinations although expensive, are readily available in several brands in the US......I'm jealous!

I've had a couple of Smegs (admittedly slightly older versions) in various homes and they were both rubbish ovens, continually needing expensive repairs. Miele was very good, up to 5 years old and no repairs required, but smaller internal dimensions. Recently upgraded in present house to an AEG pyrolytic with telescopic runners......really thrilled with it !! Early days as it's not quite 12 months old. I use the benefits of the telescopic runners all the time, pyro cleaning is a breeze.

Looking at Asko, Miele and Siemens for oven, induction and dishwashers for a new build. Been to cooking demo’s for all including VZug and Neff. Asko Elements ovens seem like a good pyro and steam oven in comparison to price point for Miele (not paying $10K for one Miele oven), but don’t want to compromise ourselves down the track with maybe spending a bit more upfront for Miele ovens as they have such a good reputation. I also can’t locate many reviews for the Asko ovens. Likely going with Miele dishwashers and induction as Miele induction is built for flush mount and won’t void any bench top warranties. I’ve read really mixed reviews on the Asko dishwasher but price point between Asko and Miele dishwashers wasn’t too much. Range hood looking at Falcem. Does anyone have any experience with the Asko Elements ovens? Or should we be sticking to Miele ovens (combi steam and pyro)?

I decided not to go with Bosch, as the oven cavities are tiny & I don't like the stepped gas knobs on the cooktops (& the rangehood is too short for our 2700mm ceilings!). I decided against Ariston based on advice from a number of sales people. And I decided against InAlto as the gas wok burner isn't very strong and the ovens aren't pyrolytic! After many months of research and reading I am am going to either purchase a 90cm Smeg or a 90cm Electrolux gas cooktop and an Electrolux rangehood (as it has stainless steel filters and suits our 2700 ceilings without having to buy an additional flue extension).
