It seams like a lot of these threads are so old! People keep randomly finding a post that is a year or two old, and comment before looking at when it was posted. I wish houzz had a way of deleting old threads that where inactive!...

Hi 28! I would recommend having a sheet made out for them of as many things as you can think of everyday. We call it a punch list. They can check off each item as they do it and if they mess something up, you have proof. That said, tradesman can't be micromanaged. The need to be trusted to do their job but things like MIrror Placement approval, and color choices should be signed off on. One thing I have learned from a lifetime of experience is that often, something we feel is catastrophic to our design, ends up being very acceptable and sometimes even better with familiarity! That's not to say I still think I'm going to die if everything isn't perfect on a job, LOL! But in the end, perfection is boring and not really human nature at all. Happy mistakes rule! Your mirrors are fine ;>)

Ok, so I received the other handle I was looking at from Sydney. The smaller one , does come in a larger size if required, it is however satin chrome and would match the octagonal knobs. The new one is brushed Nickel , the same as my pendant lights. I had not even noticed this until the new handle arrived as I did not hold them up against the lights. If I chose the nickel ones I would need to also choose a new knob for the cabinets. Thoughts appreciated :)

there is also a difference between ceramic and porcelain tiles - often these issues come down to a combination of (a) tile batch size/consistency (b) tiler's skill/capacity (c) communication in that if the tiler opens the tile box and he can't practically achieve what he thought he might because of the general discrepancies in size then they should at least speak to you before they start. So often with many issues in this game, it's about managing people's expectations and having open/honest discussions at the right time. When this breaks down, problems and disappointment is more likely to occur......so coming back to it, if you have high quality porcelain tiles that are millimetre perfect, square and flat then the capacity to lay them with minimal spacing is higher. Also the substrate/prep plays a part as if it's all out of whack and not perfectly straight/plumb/square then you'll be in all sorts trying to achieve the minimal tolerance detail.
