Fridge dilemma - no walls - under bench fridge???

I am taking out a pantry and fridge divider that is in the centre of the kitchen/living/dining area. Once gone it will be totally open. The only problem is there is no wall for the fridge due to the windows.

I'm not sure whether under bench fridges will be any good and / or worth the money.

With four of us in the house we can't just use a bar fridge so I've looked into the CoolDrawer and Liebherr under bench fridges. So if I go with two fridges and one freezer, or one fridge, one CoolDrawer and one freezer, either way it is about $10k as each one is over $3k.

Does anyone know of any other solutions or a more cost effective way to do it without using commercial glass fronted fridges????

I would be reconsidering my open plan options. Completely open plan living looks great but there can be privacy and noise issues for a family of four people. A traditional upright fridge is the most practical and cheapest option for your family. A wall, recess, or nook for your fridge should be part of your design brief requirements, otherwise you are making a huge compromise for your open plan concept.

annb1997 - I’m not sure if I was clear. The microwave and the fridge are currently side by side. Currently the fridge is to the left and the microwave to the right. I was asking about swapping them around - ie the fridge to the right and microwave to the left. Reason was to create better access for the fridge as it’s further from the island bench. The APP cupboard near the external stacker doors is just a normal full height cupboard - it was supposed to be the appliance cupboard but decided on a normal cupboard. Must update the plan to reflect this.

if the kitchen space is 6m x 4m what would you do with all that empty kitchen space?...there'll be lots of walking backwards and forwards to the fridge...is this a new plan or a renovation of an existing space? ...perhaps you could enlarge the laundry to create a combined laundry pantry including the fridge and make a smaller uncluttered kitchen? post your plans to invite specific suggestions

Thanks Kate. Okay I can make that work w the pantry. So with that in mind, with the hinges on the correct side, you don’t think the fridge on the northern wall facing south will feel too cramped? It will come out 300mm more than if the pantry was there. But the win would be that the practicality and flow of the kitchen is there despite it coming out further.

By removing most of the wall and rotating the fridge back to the wall within the space that you are removing would work.
