A double size bed at the end of the room with the head at the wall so you can look out the window upon awakening. Is your bed cover style ruffly, quilted or tucked in? A lot of the pillows on the bed so you can lie on it and read in whatever position is comfortable for you. If by pallet - you mean bed - then put it on a platform that is high enough an open suitcase can slide under it easily so the guests can access their items. A comfortable chair by the window so you can sit and read in all that light. Perhaps a bench by your chair where the suitcases can go instead of under the bed. Book shelves in the room somewhere - can't see more of the room so can't be specific. Perhaps a lamp on top of the bookshelf and a small table by the chair at the window to hold your cup of tea (though the bench probably works for that) Window coverings that close up for privacy but open wide for all that light and nature. Ours is 950 and 2.4m long.I think as far as looks go, it depends how long the island is. If it's a very long island and less than 900, it would look out of proportion. Likewise, if it's a very short one, it would look wrong to have the width any more than 1m wide.

Are these nib walls coming up from the floor or coming out from the wall? Are they merely side panels of the cabinetry, or structural?

Hi, Are you going to be concerned about noise attenuation coming from the games / home theatre room to the rest of the house? As solid core doors will work better than hollow core when closed at reducing the sound transmission. Sealing the door frames and adding ceiling baffles will help further but would need to be considered at the design stage not as an after thought. The solid doors by themselves over hollow doors may drop the STC rating by 6 to 8dB which is noticeable. Andrew
