I noticed you used the airsmart system. How expensive are these systems to install and how do they do compare to ducted system.

Also are they noisy systems.

Thanks for your email. We have been extremely happy with the operation of the AirSmart solutions that we have designed and installed at a number of our high end residential projects. It is difficult to very simply give you an indication of whether an AirSmart system is more expensive than a standard reverse cycle system, as there are many factors that come into consideration in the overall system design that can alter the pricing of any solution.

But to give a base indication, if you were looking at a standard ducted reverse cycle system with normal square diffusers and no indoor air quality measures or advanced controls, then an AirSmart solution with standard low profile round down jet diffusers would probably be 20% more.

However, we are finding that the key factors in our clients deciding on an AirSmart system tend to be improved indoor air quality due to filtration & UV sanitisation, design aesthetics of down jet and linear grill diffusers, roof space limitations requiring small ductwork and advanced zone control and automation. Often when all these considerations are taken into account an AirSmart system may be the only suitable solution and often cheaper.

In regard to noise we have not experienced any issues with these systems being noisier that a standard solution. In the end noise is purely a result of system design and airflow balancing, irrespective of the type of unit used.

If you wanted any further information on your current project please feel free to send through some plans and your wish list and we can look at what may be the best system for your needs and budget.

Thanks for your prompt response. Just two other quick questions did the owner of this property install nest controllers to help zoning and are the linear grates expensive.

In this property we have used a SmartTemp Falcon control system with zone control board and dampers. As most of our projects incorporate a level of home automation and advanced control we find that SmartTemp and MyAir have been the best products.

In regard to the AirSmart Linear bar grilles, they are comparable in price to a custom made bar grille. We have moved away from using the external fascia of the grille and have had the plasterers trowel hard up to the inner core which we paint matt black. This gives an extremely sleek line as you can see in the pictures from this project.
