Are you keeping the blue carpet? I would suggest if the carpet is staying to use a band of the dark blue colour on the bottom of the curtain, say around 50 - 60 cm. Then the main body of the curtain to me made from a textured or even self patterned off white or natural oatmeal coloured fabric. (See attached pic) This will marry up the flooring with your walls and the lounge suite.

Walpamur Calcium is a cool white with grey undertone. We have just painted a couple of bedrooms and will now work through the rest of the house. It has just enough depth to contrast with the white trim, but still looks light. It was one of several we tried through a process of elimination. As wuff says the colour chips are not always a good representation of how it will actually look on your wall.

Hi lealii My immediate thought was to include yellow - perhaps yellow and white and grey stripe or abstract (Merimeko) design. Then I realised that we do not know the colour or style of your furnishings, or adjacent rooms and the furnishing colours there. So, when you have time, let us in on the details.

Hi all Good forum but I’m thinking that the paint above the picture rail maybe should be a semi gloss not a Matt colour In the 50s the panelling would have been painted with a gloss But semi gloss is more modern and reflects the light I’m presuming your wall colour is matte Try semi gloss above to ceiling ,it dries quite flat but with enough sheen to be reflective and more appropriate for the panelling It will change the look and look amazing
