Dulux Tranquil Retreat 1/4 vs 1/2 strength

Hi all

I am going for a hampton style look. Kitchen, cabinets and benchtops are all white with a light oak coloured floorboard.

For the walls I am contemplating 1/4 or 1/2 strength. I feel 1/4 is a big light and 1/2 is slightly dark.

Does anyone have photos of both strengths they've used - would love to hear from you all.

I purchased a full strength test pot recently but found it to be too much of a brown grey.
It's hard for me to comment on which shade would match your cabinet and flooring - do you have any samples of these? and I can then take s look and advise accordingly. regards Bronika

It was one of the colours the Dulux rep recommended. If you can, get sample pots and try them out. Best way to check your colours as photos don't always give a true reflection of the colour. Then you can have a look against your tiles and in different light.

Silk would be interesting, not to mention elegant. As for paints, the Silver Illusion appeals, but it might throw green (not sure). I also agree the Tranquil Retreat is a good one. I'm wondering how big the feature wall is, and what is going on this wall, eg TV, fireplace, large artwork, etc.?

My only advice is to sample. I thought grey would look great in my house but I was so very wrong! It really varies depending on your own home's natural lighting. Not sure about Taubmans but you can order A4 sized sample cards from the Dulux website. Once you narrow down your wish list, you can buy some sample pots.
