External Facade Colour Help
Comments (8)Hi Chris. I like the colour scheme and materials for your house, although a few things come to mind. Why have two different timber finishes, Merbau and Western Red Cedar? Is Merbau not available as a garage panel? Or is Western Red Cedar not available as post cladding? If they are both available for both applications, I would choose one for both applications. You mention black Sikaflex as joint filler for the cladding, and off-White mortar for bricks. Would you consider black mortar for brickwork for consistency, or do you not like the look of it? I bring these questions up because there are a lot of materials, which is great, but maybe minimising the number of colours and using them more consistently would produce a more cohesive visual outcome. I googled images for brickwork and black Sikaflex and this is the only decent one I could find quickly - just to give you an idea of how it might look....See MoreNeed Help with Facade
Comments (3)Soo exciting getting your own designed home. By way like design and woul suggest you vent rangehood/ canopy to outside and maybe your garage not wide enough to park two cars Also white is "blinding" in heat so if garage is west facing go basalt plus white stands out so you'll need light coloured bricks so garage door don't become feature Ask brick suppliers for addresses of people who built with bricks you like or their colour consultant to come up with 2 brick choices wch would suit your colour scheme. Boral has online visualiser as do colorbond and I went to brick showroom wch stocked boral Australia and they gave me addresses and then edpoje with boral cc who fir no chatge emailed me two colour scenarios fit two types bricks liked ie 4 scenarios really helpfully...See MoreExterior alternatives to weatherboard
Comments (10)siriuskey - rendering over fibre cement board tends to crack after a few years. Render board (foam panels) work ok. Hebel panels also ok. Hard to give too much info without knowing what the covenant says. A lot of sites have covenants such as a percentage of face brick/rendered brick/weatherboard. Some also say no corrugated steel for cladding. Unfortunately this why so many new subdivisions have houses all looking similar, but thats another story....See MoreFixing Facade (apparently this title was too short)
Comments (23)So we've decided to break up the front steps and have them going to a landing level with a planter box and then continuing downin front of planter box (hopefully you can work that out from plan). Given straight lines not going for curved crazy paving but more traditional paving although broken up with plants. It's Canberra climate and East facing but because of large pin oak in street its not very sunny so looking for shade tolerant (so thinking maples rather than crab apple and crepe myrtles). She has a feature pot with a cycad and I'm not so sure that's my cup of tea for a feature plant so would be interested in alternative and I also don't really want a water feature as I find them a bit naff (and husband convinced the maintenance not worth it)....See More- 6 years ago
