Comments (11)Agree swap locations for all reason stated sounds like a good idea. Straighten hall way. Get some natural light into the corner room, at least a skylight if you can't add a window. bring the Master bedroom door down the hallway to near the utility door. This will make the area more useful and you could move the access to the first room, whether wir or ensuitte, off the hallway. Play around with options. Comments (34)Alright let's see if we can put this to bed. There's nothing at all wrong or amateurish with your home. Agree seeing photo it's arguably too much of a compromise nor cost effective to move/change the window considering outcomes. The solution here will come in the fit-out and how to balance that as best as possible within the constraints set. You can do it with a 1500 size bath option, 900x1200 shower. and it's essentially a tweak/fine-tune from the idea you had originally. (I shouldn't really do this but here you go/I'm feeling generous today ;) ) You run a ledge all the way around the back and end walls. Mirrored cabinets all along the end above the basin. This will feel massive and luxurious with the ledges/more dimension & interest. But you'd need a concealed in wall cistern. Any privacy concerns (in bathrooms) can be managed by combination blinds/furnishings - arguably much more flexible (and cheaper in this situation) than changing glazing to frosted glass. Comments (10)based on standard sized fixtures there should be enough space for a small corner shower and single vanity with a toilet squeezed into the space next to the shower (which is narrower than ideal for comfortable elbow room) leaving space in the middle to stand and dry yourself or one person to walk behind another... there also needs to be allowance made for the space that will be used by new wall and floor linings so strongly recommend that you research fixtures and collect pamphlets with specifications and consult a plumber before you buy anything but i would prefer a bigger custom sized tiled walk in shower with glass panel and sacrifice a vanity cabinet for a wall hung sink with in wall mirrored wall cabinet and more toilet room for a more spacious feel...See Moreshonaghb

5 years agolast modified: 5 years agohaving built several guest accommodations including a separate granny flat for our now 92 year old mum (who also prefers to stay in her own home) i appreciate your desire to make everyone more comfortable but my suggestion uses less space than a second bathroom but makes the bathroom much more spacious and will help future proof the bathroom for yourselves as well as making it safer for mum....by rearranging the existing hall, bedroom doors and bathroom you could have a bigger walk in shower with space for a proper shower seat and all round grab rails and a curtain can be easier, safer (and cheaper) than a glass screen, a separate toilet and bigger vanity area ...adding grab rails and wider cavity sliding doors will also make it safer and more comfortable and i personally find the shower seat and grab rails very useful in the shower and toilet and grab rails also make excellent matching towel rails if installed in a full bathroom renovation rather than stuck on later...a toilet with a higher seat and bathtub built up higher off the floor is more comfortable and another idea we found super useful is a two way switch for overhead lights so that they can be turned on and off from a switch beside the bed..excellent for late night visits to the toilet....useful for mum but we now use this option in all bedrooms....i've include simple biw wardrobes for both bedrooms on the north wall to allow more space for a chest of drawers or dressing table, a comfy chair and bedside drawers
and, maybe while you're considering improvements opening up the wall between the two small living areas might be more comfortable to enjoy the views
