A similar thing happened to me - a bottle of hand sanitiser exploded in my black leather bag whilst it was laying on my brand new cream leather car seats!!! Soaked through and transferred the black dye from my bag onto the seat, leaving a massive black stain. I tried to remove it gently with leather cleaner, only to find the more I scrubbed, the more I took the cream colour off and started to damage the actual leather of the seat. In the end I took my car to a furniture upholstery place and they colour matched the leather and sprayed the area that was damaged. It looks great now. If you look REALLY hard, you can still see where I took some of the grain out of the leather (too much scrubbing), but otherwise you wouldn't notice - best of all it didn't cost the Earth. I think a small area like what is on your chairs would come up nicely - it would probably cover the ink stains too. I think it's worthwhile getting the job done professionally. Good luck!

Great find, they are awesome! At first glance I would've placed them as Mid Century Modern. They are very similar to chairs designed by Philippe Starck, in particular 'Pratfall' and 'King Costes' chairs.

Melissa, if you have children forget any sheepskin throws over the bench. wood metal and vinyls are the easiest to clean/maintain. Do you have any colour?- yellow or orange would look great against the blue rug and would look good with you material piecs..

It really depends on the quality of the current dining chairs, and how expensive they were. There are lots of cheap dining chairs out there with poor quality, and poor joints that look fine in the showroom but are destined for roadside collection and landfill in five to ten years time, as part of our society's disposable furniture fad. If they are good quality, and work with your table then rehuplostering is more cost effective in the long term than buying cheap chairs. I would get a few quotes, and remember that the convenient upholsterer with a shop front on a main road is always going to be more expensive than the inconvenient upholsterer who is tucked away at the back of an industrial estate.
