Netty, firstly thank you for posting your question because we are stuck on splashback ideas also and the only difference between our kitchens is that you have opted for gloss on your cupboards and we have gone satin. We are currently waiting on our shi*take bench tops to be installed.... hopefully within the next week. After much googling, hubby has decided that he likes the glass bullet style in a neutral tone (much like the tile you have gone with but in glass obviously) and I am liking the bullet style tile also, just not sure whether glass or a mix of stone, glass etc would work. At least I know we are on the right track now, so thanks again! Can't wait to see a photo when your done (hint hint ;-) )

I'm surprised your low iron splash back changed the colour so much, is it starfire? There are green and clear glass, but the thickness varies white the most. Trying to match your whites perfectly will always result in a slight variation, because the products different it's almost impossible. Very subtle tonal differences can be disguised if your splash back is enclosed or surrounded by joinery as the shadowing created allows for discrepancy. Otherwise, make colour difference intentional and find something that can coordinate and not copy the colour. Maybe mirror and remove colour from the equation

HI Lyn Depends on where you live, but here in Auckland, Winstone Glass will give you a glass splashback in ANY Resene colour, which would mean you could get exactly what you want. Personally I have a white kitchen with white speckled granite tops, and all walls white, so I went with a black glass splashback that has an ever so slight sparkle at night, doesn't sparkle in daytime. Looks stunning. You can get cheap pre made splashbacks at Mitre 10, Bunnings etc, but they don't use the glasskote technology, so you can see in behind them, whereas Winstones ones, you can have white and not see the wall at all. Because glass is inherently blue/green/grey depending what it was made of (a bit like water) it has to be tinged with colour. They say that to have sparkles in the paint works, but I would hate that. Just think about the other colours in your kitchen - floor, appliances, handles etc. and see which accent works best with those items. Most kitchen Showrooms have samples of glass splashbacks, so probably go to Willoughby where there are numerous Showrooms to check them out would be advisable.
