Our verandah is a blank canvas......what to do?
Comments (17)The cane furniture will really look nice in your verandah. As for plants, jump online and browse for some hardy plants on the Aussie websites. They are a wealth of information and if you do have a large planter box or pot make sure you put it on wheels. That way you can take your plants in and out of the house. Also put a base under the pot/planter so it catches the water and does not ruin your nice floor. You can pick these from a garden store in your area. Good luck! :) btw hope you don't mind me your spelling error "taught" should be "taut", I really hope folks correct my spelling too! cheers....See Moreflooring type and window frame colour and outside render colour
Comments (6)I'm personally not a fan of tile - very hard on the feet, I find - so I'd probably restrict tile to the wet areas and go for hardwood everywhere else. Our last home had wood in every room except the bathroom, and after 10 years it still looked fine. Even the kitchen looked good. That said, we didn't have kids running around in the house. Did (and still do) have a dog, though. Our current house has carpeting in the bedrooms, engineered wood in the living areas, and tile in the bathrooms and laundry. All three floor coverings have a similar greigish tone, so to my mind they look fine together, and meet the practicality and comfort criteria as well....See MoreHelp with type of flooring and colour
Comments (16)Eric, is it the red colour you don't particularly like? Which timbers do you like most? Have you seen spotted gum? I mention it because the colour tones in spotted gum vary and it might possibly be worth consideration. I realise many consider having the same timber flooring throughout the house as ideal; however, as your bedrooms have doors, I believe it would be perfectly acceptable to have a different timber flooring in them (be consistent here though). If this were my Dilemna, I would match the timber width to the width of your red gum flooring, and use a top-notch installer, someone with whom you can discuss the best way to lay the planks given your other flooring....See MoreExterior Paint Colour Suggestions Wanted For Windows, Verandah etc
Comments (12)The bricks , and the roof , are 'livable' IMO , both are that certain era , but they are pleasant -- like everyone else , the mouse turd must go though . Ooops , maybe its mustard haha . I'd do the window frames and gutters in a charcoal like Monument , or a crisp white -- a bit mysterious , or a clean look , but either will 'sharpen' the lines if that makes sense -- its a bit wishy washy right now . Oh , and the fence that is visible in the pics , and any other similar ones -- again , a charcoal stain . It also references the flecks in the bricks . The garage doors I'd probably go a 'metallic' charcoal . The railings I wonder if they are up to code , but anyway , if they are staying , do them and all the under-eves in a crisp white . So your main colours are now red , charcoal , white , and the greyer roof tone ( but not in equal proportions , so it won't look 'striped' ) . Which still leaves the majority of the mustard -- just go Surfmist or similar off-white with a blue tinge -- keep it closer to a white IMO . That Toffee Fingers is nice in itself , but not only do I feel it doesn't gel , it also introduces another colour group , whereas to me white and surfmist are 1 group , charcoal and the roof another similar grouping , while the brick is the primary thing you see , but it all works together ....See More- 6 years ago
