What color paint for concrete

cant decide on a light grey (almost white) or a dark charcoal ( like the swing chair ) to paint our concrete patio floor. any ideas and photos would be awesome. maybe a completely different color, like mocha would work. please help

Hi! We've just been through this issue and like you I initially chose a lighter colour, as I wanted a stone/sandstone look and chose Dulux Tully Grey. We tried it out and it was TERRIBLE! So our painter suggested a darker colour, Basalt which I think is a Berger Jet Dry colour.....Also YUK! It looked blue on our place. Back to the drawing board. We ended up with and are EXTREMELY happy with Dulux Grey Cabin mixed into a Berger Jet Dry non slip paint. I don't have photos yet but it was difficult to get a match with a lot of timber balustrading being painted in Hog Bristle 1/2 and accents of Monument (its almost black) all this against those colonial sandstock type bricks... I don't envy you but dont give up! My suggestion is to get as many sample pots of paint as you can....paint large sheets of paper and fling them around in different spots, during different times of the day, in sunny spots and in full shade. Bearing in mind, concrete paint will be flat and not semi gloss like the sample pots so a little imagination is key. Good luck!

Lindy, Why dont you do a computer image of the outside of your home like you can do with digital decorator and play with some schemes. You would instantly know if you like it or not!! Otherwise as Luke suggested, you need to decide if you want to contrast or blend?? I would certainly start off with a blend, as changing it to a deeper colour later would be far easier than trying to go back to a lighter colour if you decide you don't like it. Deep Ocean can look stunning with Jarrah but now that you have Monument I think you really need to stick to Windspray if your window frames are that colour otherwise I feel you will be introducing too many colours and you will spoil the elegant look of the home. Dear Creatively Challenged , I can recommend Dulux Colour Consultants, I gave up after about 5 sample pots . At the time it cost me $150 and if I used dulux paints I could claim a full refund . That was 12 years ago . I didn’t realise at the time just how good they were , the colours are still in fashion but it’s ready for another paint job for sure. It was such a relief to have someone in who is trained and fully understands colours and fashion and what goes with what . I finally stopped stressing about it and got the job done ✅

As MB design mentioned , painted surface will wear, what ever you do keep it low sheen so that the sun won;t reflect off it, Grey or Greige would have the same effect. I don't think you will be using it on a hot sunny day. MB's brick sounds lovely, recycled would give you a wonderful look for your black furniture to sit on, red and black are made for each other

Visit Bunnings or similar painting store. Purchase a concrete exterior flooring paint. Ensure that the existing concrete is cleaned completely, maybe pressure clean first. Then paint on with a roller as per instructions.
