Help! Exterior Paint Colours

I need help finalising paint colours for our house. We would like to replace the Brunswick green and yellow cream with something cleaner and more modern looking....thinking Monument garage doors, balustrade, pillars, etc and Wattyl Confetti Shower for the rendered parts with purest white under the eaves and around the front door...gloss black front door with gold accents. Am I on the right track? Is monument dark enough? I am scared of the render colour looking yellow like it does now.... advice appreciated! thank you!

I agree with painting the driveway and house façade, paint can do wonders. Remove the bush on the corner so you can see all the windows and I would suggest painting both the house and window frames a white / cream colour to tone down the Spanish look and give the house a more modern look - like my before and after images below of a house in my area, with a paint job and tiding up the garden the transformation was amazing! Also is your front door at the side? I would suggest not only replacing the gates with something more attractive, like oiled or painted timber gates, but also positioning them further back towards the garage so you can see more of the house.

Hi did you end up painting your house snowy mountain half with snowy mountain quarter on the trims? Are you happy with the colour? Does it look white or does it give off another tint? I'm considering this exact colour scheme for our Hamptons style house.

Hi sabeen, as mentioned before, you need to go to a paint shop and get a colour chart, this will help. Taubmans exterior paint colours. These charts are readily available. Then visit display homes, and match your colours in the chart to actual homes. The render is the cement that is put over the bricks. That is a grey colour. Then the render is painted with a primer/sealer, then Painted with your chosen colour. If you have been told you need to look at the taubmans range then that may be what the builder is using. Acrylic render (example: dulux acratex) is applied over the cement render. It is not paint, but coloured render. Hope this helps.

I went through many sample pots for my previous house before getting a colour consultant to help me. However, I have colour consultants from Dulux to be a bit hit and miss and some always just choosing the popular scheme that is seen everywhere. I know one of Dulux' brochures had a house in miller mood...maybe see what they teamed it with. I found the colour pots to be very much the same as the colours shown in the link I gave...Good luck!...... To me tranquil retreat is a very safe bet that will match with everything.. If you want something more unique, than go for miller mood...

You have a lovely traditional looking home, and repainting it in today's fashionable, contemporary colours may look a bit odd. In addition you have that large expanse of terracotta red brickwork to the side, which you haven't mentioned, but will still impact on the appearance of the house from an angle. I would be looking at colour schemes that work with colours that you are not going to change such as the stone and brickwork. The scheme that you currently have complements the existing architecture, and there are other traditional schemes that will work, that aren't green and cream.

As always the only way to assess the suitability of a colour is with samples. A professional can source A4 sized samples which will help you assess the suitability.
