Kitchen question: Handles or no handles?
Comments (3)Not sure if you will save money going without handles but they are something else that needs cleaning! Modern no handles gives a clean simple aesthetic and will be my next choice Neryl ;))...See MoreKitchen handles vs no handles
Comments (8)I ended up going with no handles for the upper cupboards, but handles for the lower cupboards and drawers for the following reasons: - they were mostly hidden from view anyway due to the island bench; - they were quite a bit cheaper than shark nose (i.e. no handles); and - I wasn't overly keen on crumbs and other kitchen mess making its way into the drawers due to the shark nose design. Comments (18)@mwenn, I sort of do agree with you that hiding everything away till it's needed seems a little fake but when you live in a home as I do at present, with a very tiny kitchen and everything is out because there's nowhere to put it away, consequently, I have a very limited prep area, so in my new kitchen, I can't wait till everything is in a draw or in a cupboard, so that I can enjoy the freedom of having a clear work area. That doesn't mean I won't enjoy a cooking day where everything is brought out for it but most everyday cooking in my opinion, doesn't require all the big gun machines to be taking up bench space. I'm afraid you might think my new kitchen will be one of these "fake" kitchens but I can assure you it won't be but remember most of the photo's that get shown on Houzz, have been professionally prepared for the photo, with nothing out of place, "minimalist" with a perfect vase of flowers and so on like the photo above!!...See MoreKitchen Advice - How to blend in kitchen floors...
Comments (6)Congratulations on your new home. I can't tell what your kitchen cupboards are made from by your photo, but there is a laminate paint available that is suitable for vertical surfaces, but you wouldn't use it on a benchtop. Never choose a splashback after you have selected benchtop and cupboards. They should be selected together to work in harmony as you see all three elements together. If your budget is tight I would keep the splashback and benchtop, as they are very neutral, will work with your furniture, and are expensive to replace. Concentrate on finding the right laminate paint colour first and then the wall colours. Don't rely on paint colours that you see online as they are always different in real life. It may be worth your while to engage a Dulux colour consultant so you don't make any expensive mistakes if you really have no idea as they are very reasonably priced. https://www.dulux.com.au/services/colour-design-service/overview Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls...See Moresiriuskey
