Great colour choices! I agree to go with the grey rug, but you can use the yellow as a subtle highlight colour in the design. Here is a photo of our Clover rug in grey and cream , but you could easily make the cream a light yellow. I am not a fan of rugs in my own home, but have seen some beautifully selected and placed rugs in images of home décor. I think they do require the space to allow them to look good and the reason I have not used them is that our home doesn't give enough space to make them an option.

Tsk tsk... Art at the least is something which resonates with you, for any reason, great Art is a bit different..... Buy a prepared canvas and some colours you like and have at it. Then hang it up on the wall.... I would suggest a large horizontal canvas close to the width of the sofa for that wall.
