If you paint with a non-yellowing wood finish and/or perhaps a light coat of stain in your preferred colour you can then keep the same throughout which will make the house flow

I've seen a few sliders painted with blackboard paint - they're so fun and mobile, if there's a hall door somewhere it might be an option as they muffle sound rather than seal it out. KRAKEN WHALE FIGHT! If it's childlike dreams you want to be added to the house, maybe do a kiddy-height connecting door between the kids' rooms or a little message chute they can send back and forth, pigeon holes to send letters to each other or some crazy options like your hidden door in a more public area like the front entertaining space. There are so many ways to add whimsy that can be fixed up and removed later on if yall need. Hi Nikki, if you like a neutral palette I usually choose Natural white a Dulux colour, Taubmans will have similar, it's a lovely warm white I would then paint the skirting boards and window architraves / ceilings in vivid white. The crisp white of vivid white sits beautifully against natural white. If you like grey Tranquil retreat also a dulux colour is a gorgeous soft modern grey. Would probably require more information from you as to your likes, dislikes aesthetic of your new home to come up with an appropriate colour scheme recommendation. Always happy to help.

It is a great improvement . However I always laugh at all the before and after photo's on a lot of renovations on Houzz -- take the before photos on a dark day with the lights off ; do a reno ; take the after photos on a sunny day with every light ( and flash on the camera ) , and say how bright and breezy it looks ! It's like every weight loss 'con' -- the before photo in frumpy clothes with no smile and minimal lighting -- the after in a bright outfit , huge smile , feet 2 foot off the ground grabbing up for a beach ball , with lots of lighting !
