Advice & recommendations for soffit finishes (under eaves)
Would love to hear recommendations and advice for what people think works best for soffit under eaves.
For a brand new build, modern interior (light oak timber floorboards, black aluminum framed doors and white & grey minimalist interior palette) - what would you recommend we use as the finish for our soffit? You can see the soffit from inside, so want it to be well considered.
The timber cladding sitting on eaves will be stained black (to match black aluminum frame doors).
Do we go the same stained black cladding? Or do we do natural timber decking (same as what we’re using on our deck underneath soffit), or other ideas?

Comments (11)I would love to see you paint both the gutters and trim boards under the gutters, the eaves and the underside of the porch roof in all the same color. The white looks nice on your home. You could add color by painting your front door a deep blue (not as dark as navy) or a deep emerald green. Then add big flower pots in the same colors or even a pair of colorful chairs on the porch. I had 52 something similar to this. I could open with little finger when hand were dirty. Comments (36)Also, if you are interested in how to use cooling breezes, it's a good idea to look at the Bureau of Meteorology site. There's lots of information here on wind directions & strengths through the seasons. Again, your local conditions may vary somewhat from the BOM site used (MACKAY M.O.), so if you're a local you may have a better idea. The BOM (most commonly) records wind data for its sites at both 9am & 3pm. The data is presented as a wind rose. A description of wind roses, & how to use them, can be found here, http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/averages/wind/wind_rose.shtml The 9am wind rose is shown here, http://www.bom.gov.au/cgi-bin/climate/cgi_bin_scripts/windrose_selector.cgi?period=Annual&type=9&location=33119 The most common wind at 9am appears to be from the SSE, & of moderate strength. Unfortunately, these are yearly wind roses, so won't show seasonal variations. Comments (5)while i can't comment on appliances with 6m of available space you should be able to spread out a little and make more serving space as well as making the size of cabinetry more streamlined...dividing the space into 4 x 1500 zones allows for 2 x 2 x 750 cabinets and fridge space or seating something like this with space beside the barbq for serving and stacking dirty dishes and i'm wondering if a dishwasher would live inside one of the cabinet spaces to make clean up even easier? btw your image is gorgeous and my poor 3d computer images can't compete..enjoy your new home...See More
