Want to make a good bedroom for teenage boy
Comments (6)My son was interested in legos for a long time. He's an adult now. I undersand wanting to make the room for his now stage, but after raising a boy and girl, I think it helps to make the room transitional into an older teen room now. Make the space something that will be able to be made over in a few years into a young adult's room. I think the pictures above from Emily Hurley, the one on the top right and the bottom have that feel. He can have his legos on the shelves now, and books or other items later. With my kid's rooms I always had a lot of shelves.........they collect "stuff" and need a place to display it. Look at Ikea, they have tons of different shelving and storage/cubby options in black, white & different wood-look finishes....See MoreBedroom Reno Challenge

Comments (49)Thanks siriuskey and Jen! I have been toying with this idea already.... also with making the current main bedroom into a living area (as it would make a nice sitting room, it has a great garden view). Actually, since I originally asked for help on here we have booked the job in with a builder & plumber.... still have to line up other trades but it's not happening until June next year. Below is the plan I ended up giving to the builder for his quote... but of course I am likely to change my mind about 50 times before we go ahead! Especially since as you'll see, the planned ensuite is too narrow, we will have to make it wider. RE having a WIR for the maswter, we decided a BI would be ok instead since we dont have many clothes and we'd rather use the limited space for bigger bedrooms. Also we had to double our budget to $100k as $50k (our original) wasn't going to cut it!!!! ( & we'll still have to be very careful with our spending)....See MoreToddlers' bedroom layout
Comments (5)If they are going to share, the obvious place for me is the wall the cot is on & the opposite wall. Add a long low bedside table in between under the window. Have it low enough for drink bottles, books etc, I had a tall boy between my son & daughter and it was useless when they shared. I was often summoned for a sip of water! If they are happy to share consider a double bed, mine loved bunking in together and you can move them out for guests....See Morejulie herbert
