Thanks for the opportunity to look at your room and think about what I would do. It has been fun. I think the round coffee table will work if it is large enough for everyone seated in the L sofa arrangement to reach it. (Bonus is no barked shins from sharp corners on a square one.) I agree pale colours like yellow won't do much for bringing about a changed more modern look. The room needs more drama and freshness and I think that currently the room has too many colours in the pale range and not enough contrast. I would go for introducing more of the stronger colours in your attractive tribal fabric, including black and white. Black in particular will allow you to really update the look. Consider painting the bookcase or even the doors black. (The existing coffee table would even look good painted glossy black.) Some plump cushions in the tribal fabric and others in a bigger more graphic design in large red and white zigzags or stripes say, would add to a more integrated look. Your bright yellow pot plant holder on the bookcase is another colour in your tribal fabric which would look good in the scheme as a minor accent, say, more pots that colour in a larger size, a big vase/artwork or lampshade. My advice is to stay away from golds and beiges as they relate to older fashions. A large framed in black graphic print on the wall in black and white (or even photo with meaning to you) could be an idea to think about too.

@oklouise Thank you so much. The measurement above shall be an accrurate one ( I measured myself not long ago :) But sadly we are in the middle of reno already. Walls knocked off and plan is as per I shared with you. We are struggle on the dinning / living area while we scratch our head where to put our TV but at the sametime the dinning table location makes sense.

Most of the external walls appear to be brick , so adding on is going to be more expensive , especially as you will have to ry and match the wooden floors to look good -- you might get away with tiles in the laundry, but to add a toilet or bathroom there is then only accessible off the kitchen or possibly Bed 4 ( even that may need doorways cut through brick ? ) . The 3 thoughts I've had would be to turn the fridge and that whole cabinet by 90 degrees -- that will hide entry into the bathroom a bit more , and open up the kitchen visually . Thought 2 is that the dining doesn't look overly utilised -- can that be a Work From Home area or similar too ? And thought 3 is the most off the wall -- have you considered using the larger shed as a bedroom , an office , etc ? It does look like un-lined tin , but it is there , so depending on what the floor is , etc , have you considered that ? And on that note , or maybe thought 4 , if that isn't practical , have you considered a relocatable and/or granny flat etc . Relocatable has the advantage that you can buy or hire , maybe cancel or sell in a couple of years , or 10 years ? Anything is possible , but if you work on that $100k guideline , is it worth it now ? When you sell ? To keep the peace /
