What colours for this floor

Hi, we have this slate all through the house. We are trying to work with the slate and update the decor. we have renovated this toilet but am not happy with it. How can we improve it and what colours should we use to go with this flooring?

Thank you. My husband thinks the colours are upside down. The suggestions of look to the tiles for the inspiration for the colour has helped immensely for the rest of the house. we now have a few colours that we can't decide on.

I would be using the slate as a starting point for your colour inspiration. If you look carefully there are some great olive and eucalyptus colours to draw from. The white that you have is too stark and contrasting to the feature of the room which is the beautiful floor. The stained timber works as it complements the rustic look of the floor, and there are some similar colours in the floor.

If you wanted to spend some big dollars I would look at upgrading your toilet suite to a cleaner, more contemporary pan and a concealed wall cistern. Changing the aluminium sliding window to a stained timber awning window to match the architrave would be a nice finishing touch.

Samantha B I just completed my kitchen Reno in Perth. My pantry was also bricked up like yours. Literally doubled the space by getting rid of it but we found out after that the pantry was structural & we had to put an extra support beam in the roof instead ($800) so be careful of that! We completely moved the plumbing, gas & electrics & it only cost a few hundred! So don't be afraid to do that as long as u know decent priced tradies! We ended up doing nearly everything ourselves & went with a masters flat packed kitchen & sourced our own stone benchtops dirt cheap ($2500 installed for a 2m bench & a 1.5m island each with one waterfall edge.). My sister got the dark coloured boards. You could see every footprint and scratch and it did her head in! She ended up having them all re-sanded and stained a lighter colour. They did look gorgeous in the dark colour when they were laid, but once the day to day traffic of living started happening...not so much. Good luck with choosing!

Repaint White with one of the green colour in the tiles and then see how you like it , maybe replace the toilet for something modern. Start with colour

I agree it’s lovely, it only needs something on your window ledge, a gorgeous plant ( could even be a trailing one) in a pot in colours to compliment your beautiful floor, a luxury candle or diffuser would just finish it perfectly, just a small touch will make all the difference

I agree that the white bottom of the walls doesn't look right. I think your hubby could be right about the colours being upside down.

Thebook ‘Using Australian Colours by Jane Faulkner and Harley Anstee, would be a fantastic help. It groups together complimentary colours.
