HI Lyn Depends on where you live, but here in Auckland, Winstone Glass will give you a glass splashback in ANY Resene colour, which would mean you could get exactly what you want. Personally I have a white kitchen with white speckled granite tops, and all walls white, so I went with a black glass splashback that has an ever so slight sparkle at night, doesn't sparkle in daytime. Looks stunning. You can get cheap pre made splashbacks at Mitre 10, Bunnings etc, but they don't use the glasskote technology, so you can see in behind them, whereas Winstones ones, you can have white and not see the wall at all. What a shame it could save you a lot of money, are they cheap floating or timber. We had an old federation house which had beautiful old floors with a bit of worm and patching but came up to a lovely finish with a lot of character. If you go for a new floor, I'd go light for a Scandi look to work with your furniture if that's your stuff in the photos

They might be Baltic Pine? What is the age of the house? You could do a google image search for "Baltic pine floorboards" and "cypress pine floorboards" see what the grain and knots look like- do either match with your boards? Yes, you can make them look more like the white washed photo. We have cypress pine boards and recently had them sanded and refinished with Bona White as we wanted to ensure they had no yellowy or orange tinge and make them look more contemporary. They were very orange from the original oil based varnish. We're very happy with them, although we only had one coat of white and it may not have shown up as well as our sample boards. Two coats would have made them more white. The Bona White system was chosen because it is low VOC water based, so doesn't have a strong odour, compared with solvents.
