Matching paint colour to orange/red wood?

Hi all, I'm doing a make-over for my sister's small bedroom. She has this sliding door wardrobe made of some kind of red/orange veneer and French doors that have a matching wood. She likes green and grey. I came up with a mood board which I'll put in below, which has grey walls (with sage in a little alcove) the other highlight color for soft furnishings is terracotta. What are your thoughts? Do you think the grey walls will look OK with that wardrobe color? Any thoughts on the overall scheme?

Nice mood board, but the orange timber is much more intense than the orange in your mood board. Sage is agood starting point, rather than grey, so I would be looking at light olives and eucalyptus colours.

Thanks so much! My phone boosts the saturation of photos, so the wardrobe colours aren't quite as garish as they look in the photo! When you say eucalyptus colours, do you mean greens and beiges and browns?

Personally I'd use Manor Red. Probably won't see a lot of it anyway so if theres a discrepancy between Colorbond and tile it won't be as obvious. I'd also guess that the Manor Red would be a darker red than the terracotta tile? Could use Basalt for gutters and facias if you want a bit of grey perhaps?

Thanks annb1997 and Bernadette Staal. Bernadette, I do like the red roof; it is the creamy yellow walls and dark green trim that I'm not a fan of... But good point though, my husband actually suggested the same thing on the weekend! :) Annb, I just thought if I incorporated some red into the trim work it would tie the whole colour scheme together. Door is currently same as wall colour, so painting it the red sounds like a good idea. And I do like the idea of fewer colours, then it wouldn't look so busy.... Currently leaning towards the soft sage green, just need to find the right shade now.

I would be looking to counterbalance the intensity of the orange brick by introducing some olive greens into the trim and gutters. I don't know if your budget would extend to refinishing the roof tiles in a similar green. Get samples of Colorbond Pale Eucalyptus and Wilderness to see how they look against the brick. If neither work then consider Colorbond Woodland Grey. Of course some decent landscaping will help break up the mass of orange and soften the look. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls

Can you cover the wardrobe with some kind of removable wallpaper?

I like your mood board though. I don't think I'd go for grey walls myself, I think the green would be better with grey added through artwork, soft furnishings etc.
