I'm no expert on paint, but there are lots of heat resistant paint out there for temperatures from 300°-1200°, they're used around fireplaces, etc so I'm sure you can find one appropriate for behind a cook top that meets code, maybe ask whoever's doing your kitchen, or even the ppl you'll buy the pressed metal from, surely they'll have some idea... good luck :)

That's great advice re the colours Design Organisation, I've been trying to work out how to choose the right greys to create the same effect as the one in your photo (still looking for a door like it!) Unfortunately budget doesn't extend to replacing the gutters which are that very 80s primrose. I've spoken to builder re your suggestion about the width of the poles and we might now replace them with timber posts, you've been really helpful!

thanks oklouise for your input. Plan is pretty much finalised. Area/ alcove beside Bathroom will be for dumping shoes, bags etc, and the entrance to kitchen on that side is closest access from carport for groceries, and probably our personal access without stairs. The other kitchen hallway near Bed 3 will be the main access for guests to bed2 and 3 and bathroom. Yes our cooker is a big present to ourselves, we are both big cooks ( one chef), so question is.... can we get away with a cheaper cabinet style ?
