Your splashback should be consistant right around the three sides. You already have contrasting overhead cupboards, so bringing in two different splashback tiles will look too busy. I don't think dark, mirrored splashback tiles are very practical above a sink as they will show every water splash (and reflect any kitchen clutter). Simple and understated is often the most timeless solution when you already have drama with your contrasting cabinetwork.
I agree with above poster. I have a mirrored splash back near my stove and I really really dislike how it's impossible to clean and keep looking lovely. Your kitchen looks fairly bright and airy- a beautiful neutral and simple tile or ideally a stone splashback (same as counter if you are choosing a stone) would add subtle character.
Do you have 2 different lower coloured cabinetry or is it just the pic? f you choose a tile- choose a colour or design that picks 1 of the tones in your cabinetry so that additional colours are not introduced. If you do have 3 colors then consider the stone to anchor the space and keep it from looking too busy.
I agree with the other posts about keeping it consistent on all sides but I would say if you really like the mirror glass then get it, in my opinion it doesn't really matter what the backsplash is made from it needs constant cleaning
Many thanks everyone. I have really set my heart on dark grey mirror but wondered what the effect of two walls facing each other would be . However I will go with three sides as suggested. The lower cabinets are a cloudy grey and the bench top will be silstone desert silver. All in all a grey area.... cheers
