Hi Zoe, what a lovely space, great neutral floor and curtains, your lounge and dining set perfect, I think you do know what you like just look at the photos you have posted, the only thing missing in your space are the personal bits and pieces. Take all of the above photos with you to Kmart and use them as a reference to purchase, good thing is you can change them if you feel it doesn't work. Your room really needs lights/ lamps, are you able to fit a hanging lamp above the table, what type of ceiling lights does the apartment have The other big thing is the entertainment wall needs bulking up, you need something taller and wider this can be made up with a couple TV height(Taller) cabinets on either side of the current TV, the speaker system needs a home and arranging, Kmart is bound to have something, or check out Salvo's etc they often have those old Pine timber entertainment units that old TV's sat into. With a light sand, white wash and a sealing coat they come up a treat Love your rug but it's a bit small, in the meantime I think I would line up against the lounge so it's not lost. Good advice Nelson Interiors, love Kmart and Bunnings to help with stretching the budget, Zoe don't over look Buniings for furnishing your room, work benches etc also make great TV stands and side boards, they also have a large lighting section cheers

Thanks, great feedback and some new thoughts. We purchased this place as it we felt it was a good buy and could be a good place for my parents to downsize to however it may be that we end up selling it the near future so as mindful of making it as appealing as possible. Hence removing the island despite all the cabinetry being in good condition albeit in an unusual colour. We have previously put in an ikea kitchen and were really happy with the finish so will likely go with that again versus having custom made to keep the costs down. This is the living room into the kitchen... do you think it would make that area cluttered ok Louise if we had seating there as you had drawn? We are happy to remove doors make opening wider. I also understand that keeping the toilet smells seperate from the kitchen is important and I think turning the door would achieve that. Will remove pantry door siriuskey as I agree too many openings, I was going to use it for additional bathroom space but if I keep toilet seperate that will be a waste and opening shelving could look nice. Your laundry design oklouise is exactly as I planned so that’s reassuring.

I love the oak colour you have pictured, its timeless and warm and goes with virtually everything. I have the same carpet in your 3rd image in the straw colour and find it so easy to spot clean, it does not seem to hold stains at all. However I will admit the light colour needs regular shampooing but it comes up as good as new every time. Personally I would go for the grey carpet that is furtherest away in your first image and looks slightly two-tone as we rented a house for a year that had a dark solid-colour carpet and it drove me insane. You could see every little tiny bit of fluff that landed on it and I was forever bending down picking up bits of cotton, etc.

Hi siriuskey. Not sure how to place the furniture yet. Still trying to work it out.. I am selling my dining table and chairs. My new chairs just arrived today.
