What is the best white or near white paint for rooms which are dark?
Comments (15)@courton, I've been in a quandry since purchasing a sample pot of Lexicon as it was visibly blue although not so much in the quarter strength, but I too want a warm colour and not a cool colour. I have a sample of Dulux Light Rice quarter possibly for the walls and Dulux Natural White for the roof but I'm still not sure. I wanted to stick to brown tones as that is what seems to catch my eye and Light Rice is the lightest colour in the dulux colour wall in the browns and the Natural White simply tones in with it and no other reason. Will still have to wait till I can paint up a sample but I previously tried Stucco and Harbour Stone and both were a bit too caramely for me and too coloured if that makes sense, even though I have seen Stucco in a bedroom and kitchen and it looked great but just isn't working for me now that I've tried it myself. Interesting how you can see a colour in someone else's home and it looks great but when you try it yourself, you hate it!!! I have allot of windows and door ways and very little wall area and I don't want a jigsaw effect of colour running around these areas and be jumping out at me when I walk into the home, instead I want to have to look for the walls and barely see colour....See Morewhat chairs should I use with a white tulip table?
Comments (11)Thank you both for your responses and suggestions. Yes, I was looking for upholstered because I want to warm up the table, also I do not want it to look like a kitchen table - but like a dining room table, and finally, because I wanted to have two different styles (for the table and the chairs). I like the burgundy upholstered chairs, as well as the Louis XVI ones (though these may be too traditional looking for me, and this particular color is a bit too light for the white table). I also liked the suggestion for the Tonet chair on the attachment, which is mid century and upholstered. I have found a couple of chairs that could work (Scandinavian, upholstered, beige or dark grey) but could not upload them for some reason. Keep the suggestions coming! many thanks!...See MoreWhich "white" paint to use? Dulux Stowe White, Hog Bristle, Dune half
Comments (11)Hi Rochelle. We have Hogs Bristle 1/2 strength on the walls. Vivid white on Windows and skirts. Looks fabulous. It is a very bright room with high skylights. Always looks clean and fresh and very stylish. hogs Bristle has been a favourite in the Deluxe range for many year and I can understand why. Good luck with whatever you go with....See MoreRoof colour will be white or off white but what to paint the walls?
Comments (5)consider very dark walls like navy, dark grey, rich caramel or deep rust colours with eaves and fascias white, downpipes same as walls and gutters a mid range colour to match the dark walls (btw some new paints are supposed to have heat reflecting qualities even in the darker colours)...See MoreAnne Monsour
